Reunion in Cabo?

Am trying to help plan a reunion of college friends (all women) leaving husbands and children home to celebrate our 40th b'days next year. We are planning to rent a hopefully luxurious villa/home (i.e. with a pool) in the Cabo San Lucas area in May. Anyone have any thoughts about parts of the Cabo area that are better than others? I found quite a few rental homes that are nice (per photos on web sites) in "the corridor" (not sure where that is) and the Pedregal development. We prefer walking distance to the beach and a good view. Any other suggestions about renting homes are welcome--never done this before. Thanks!!!

Dear alliesmom:

The corridor is the highway between San Jose del Cabo & Cabo San Lucas. Depending on the location, this could be right outside either town or way out, not walking distance to either town. Pedregal sits right above Cabo San Lucas and would be handier to town and the action. Pedregal is known as being a very nice area.

You may want to check out the talk forum on www.tripadvisor.com for Cabo. Much more info and action than this board.

Have fun in Cabo!!

Have a look at cabovillas.com. They have houses for rent on the corridor and in Pedregal. The corridor you will have close access to the beach, but Pedregal will have more choices for villas, but no close access to the beach, unless you can find a villa on the beach in Pedregal. This would then be the Pacific side, and be carefull about swimming.

Thanks for the suggestions--no, Michelle, we were going to go to Santa Cruz at the end of the summer, but the timing didn't work out. Hopefully next summer!!! Thanks for the TripAdvisor suggestion--it's a good one.
Edfran, what do you mean about be careful about swimming? I think the most any of us plan to do amidst margaritas and a lot of talking and sunning ourselves is wading in the beach at most...
I found one place that looks perfect that is near San Jose del Cabo, and on the beach. That is the far less tourist-y of the 2 towns, correct? Is the driving easy?

On the Pacific side and indeed some beaches on the corridor there is an undertow. Only a strong swimmer should attempt to swim.
San Jose is drivable and is preferred by some for its less frenetic touristy ambiance. Great places to eat and shop, and the ambitious can walk to town from the beach area.

I'm just back from two weeks in the area. We stayed on the "corridor", but closer to San Jose Del Cabo. We much preferred San Jose - it is much more "Mexican" than Cabo San Lucas and plenty of great restaurants. You will want to check both out, but it might be handier to stay near SJDC. You will enjoy the eating, shopping,, sunning and margaritas!!
