Restaurants in Cusco and Ollanta

Does anyone have recommendations for good restaurants to try for dinner while in Ollantaytambo and Cusco?
Any other pleasant cafes or bars in Cusco to consider for a midday break to watch people and hang?
Thanks.

Try the restaurant at KB Hostal in Ollantaytambo. It’s called PukaRumi or PucaRumy?? Everything is homemade by the owner/chef who was one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The food is excellent, reasonably priced, and safe! We stayed for 2+ hours at our outside table people watching.

Second the Inka Grill recommendation - Pakaratimpu (sp?) Hotel in Ollanta has a nice dining room as well.

Just got back from Peru and in case others want restaurants there, the Inka Grill in Cusco is indeed pleasant but be sure youa re going to the Inka Grill on the Plaza des Armas there are several sound-a-like restaurant names.
Also for a very fresh, more american style new place with good italian food in Cusco, go to Encanto. It's right off the Plaza des Armas square. Most of the rest of the restaurants in Peru were not that memorable. However we did spend a night at the Inkaterra at Macchu Picchu and their food was quite good and its a beautiful setting.

We loved all the places we ate in Cusco.

We had 3 lunches at Cafe Trotamundos - 177 upstairs in the Plaza de Armas. You can sit on the balcony or just inside and have a great view of the Plaza (great for people watching). The sandwiches, soups, desserts and cappacino were delicious and very reasonable. Paddy Flaherty's was a great "happening" pub with lots of beer choices and good pub food. Jack's Cafe Bar was excellent and reasonable - the line up should tell you how good it is. The Inka Grill was upscale, but absolutely worth every cent (and still very reasonable compared to Canadian restaurant prices of the the same caliber) - Alpaca, Cuy and Creme Brule were divine.

Enjoy your trip - you will love the food!

This is all great information - thanks!

We'd like to try many of these restaurants on our trip next week, and I was wondering about typical dress? We were planning on wearing jeans, casual shirts and sneakers throughout the day and into dinner. But should we pack something a little more dressy for dinners?

Thanks again.

Your attire of casual wear will fit right in. You are going to have such a great time - we would go back in a heartbeat...

If you are in Urubamba around lunch time, go to Alhambra Hacienda for a great buffet lunch with beautiful scenery.

In Ollanta, check out Hearts Cafe right in the main plaza. Good, fresh food--good empanadas, samosas, coca tea, coffee, quinoa soup, etc. And the profits go to help children projects in the area.
