Random question - can you purchase soy milk in CR grocery stores?

I'll be traveling with a 17 month old who can't drink regular milk. If they don't have soy in CR it's not a big deal - he just won't have milk for a couple weeks, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen it for sale at the stores out there.
Thanks in advance - I know this is a strange question for this forum.

I have not been to CR, but you can bring soy milk that can be kept unrefrigerated with you. My daughter drinks the chocolate soy milk from silk. They make them and the plain in a juice box form. I know you don't want to cart a ton of things with you, but a few boxes may get you through.

While I did not shop for Soy milk I did go into the grocery stores, tiendas quiet a bit...

They are small stores that lack a bunch of things we are used to. I would recommend brining your own. I know it can stay warm until opened so pack several and then go to a small store and buy a small ice chest (styrofoam) and get a bit of ice for it each day.

Of course having a car would make that much easier.

One other tip I have is that if you drink wine go buy it in the stores and then have it for your room. Significantly cheaper than at the hotel and it is the same stuff.

Thanks so much for responding. I have some that I'm going to pack - I'm just hoping it doesn't explode in the bag And we'll have a car so we're all set. Good advice on the wine - we'll definitely do that!

I have purchased soy milk at the farmacarias(pharmacies)in Costa Rica. You should try and take some with you if you can, but I have usually been able to find it there.

socalsteph: You didn't mention what area(s) of CR you're visiting; however, I checked today in the Supermas in Quepos (across from the bus station). They definitely have soy milk (plain and lowfat) and small boxes with sippy straw in chocolate flavor too! Hope this helps!

Lisa in Manuel Antonio

Thank you latitude9lisa! We'll be in the Central Valley, Playa Grande, Playa Samara and Malpais. Hopefully the stores there will be as well stocked as the places in Quepos.
Thanks again!

Stop in Cobano just before heading thru to Mal Pais and you can purchase Soy milk in the Farmaceria there. Just take a left at the Banco Nacional and the Farmacaria is on the left.
