Quinta Maria (& other hotels) in PV?
Hello all! I've read some great reviews on the internet about this place, but I'd love some more info. Really, my husband & I are interested in PV for some R&R & all the charm the city has to offer. We went to Cancun last year for our anniversary & this year we'd like something a little more low key. I'm just concerned that the Quinta Maria is too low key. Will we regret being so far away from the hussle & bussle? Do you think a bigger hotel (maybe Los Arcos) would be more fun/a better time? Can anyone fill me in on the pros/cons of this B&B?
What we really want is a great view, a close beach & as few kids as possible...but to not be too far from the goings on the city has to offer. I'm up for any other suggestions. Thanks!

Just wanted to add a few more specifics:
I've already done a search & while this place gets great reviews, a lot of them were older.
Another consideration of ours is that we're traveling in mid/late August & worried about the rain/bugs/humidity. Does the QM have windows & will that be a problem? Will walking too/from town be a problem? Thanks!

Quinta Maria Cortez is beautiful! I have not stayed there but visited friends who were and had a tour of the place. It is one-of-a-kind. What I'd see as the drawbacks are the distance from town and that they don't have a pool (well, they do but it's a teeny little dipping pool).
It's a bit too far to walk to and from town on a regular basis, but easy to catch a taxi cheap. Whether you'd regret being out of the hussle & bussle, I can't say. I'm not sure about August or their air con situation.
Nothing strongly against Playa Los Arcos, but if you decide against Quinta Maria there are many other interesting small places in the 'Zona Romantica' you might consider.

Suze is too kind - Los Arcos has cleanliness issues, and most of the rooms face the noisy courtyard pool area and not the ocean, meaning dark, and no view.
The Tropicana has been my choice for a few years now - not too fancy, but right on the beach, with a great pool area and wonderful views. The location is pretty great too - in the Zona Romantica, but not in the middle of it, so it's both convenient and quiet. The rooms are air conditioned, which I believe is a major consideration in August. The only negative with this place is that the breakfast food and service are not good. This is no big deal, though, because there are plenty of great places for breakfast, including places right on the beach.
You will LOVE Puerto Vallarta.
