Dreams sits on its own beach about 5 mins. taxi ride from the south end of Puerto Vallarta (30+ mins. from the airport). It's an all-inclusive resort.
Depends your interest what you want to do, there's many options... day cruise, snorkeling, fishing, golf, horseback riding, home tours, ziplines, etc. Day trips to other nearby towns north, south, and inland.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Dreams. The property is very nice and sits on a beautiful, private beach. The deluxe rooms ( which are standard ) are very nice and there is no reason to upgrade. The hotel has several ala carte restaurants and one buffet. For an all inclusive it is as good as it gets. However, after staying there I would have not chosen an all inclusine as they are too confining, food average and lots of drunks that get annoying as the drinks are included.I would avoid the snorkelind at Los Arcos as the water is very murky and did not see any fish. There are numerous non all inclusives rated above Dreams that cost about half of what dreams does and leaves you plenty of money to experience several of the many excellent restaurants in PV. So, unless your goal is to drink as much as you can I would not go to an all inclusive again.

Check out VallartaAdventures.com and BestDay.com. We did the Mujeriatas and Yelapa tour and then also went to El Eden and Chinos. The Rythems of the Night show and beach dinner were very good. However, the over-packed, bumpy boat ride to get there and back was pretty bad.
We stayed at the Los Arcos hotel on their AI plan. Not a real AI hotel like Dreams and defiantly not as nice, but we enjoyed the included drinks and breakfast buffet and we did go to several resturants in town as the AI price for the two of us for a 4 night stay was only $150.00 total. The location was excellant. Within walking distance to resturants, bars and shopping on the Maceleon.

There is plenty to do and see in and around Puerto Vallarta. It all depends on how much or little you want to spend both energy and $$ wise. There are also great restaurants and bars.
