Puerto Vallarta Easter Weekend 2017

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are heading to PV for 5 nights from Good Friday until the Wednesday after Easter Monday. We realize its going to be busy in PV with all the tourists and Mexican nationals vacationing.

Would anyone be able to recommend some beaches that are further away to avoid the crowds? Also how to best get there as we are staying at an airb&b right on the Malecon (I know...bad decision in hindsight but that's what we are stuck with).

Also what street parties/parades/festivals are fun during this time? We want to be able to enjoy this atmosphere of partying, culture and all that Semana Santa has to offer!

Overall I'm hoping that while the town will be busy and festive, we can also escape for some relaxation when we aren't looking to partake in the festivities.

My favorite "in town" beach is the tiny one below the Linda-Mar & Conchas Chinos hotels on the way south out of tow. Small but decent snorkeling & few beach peddlers & a decent restaurant on the beach. You can take the bus or actually if adventurous walk the shore from Playa de Muertos which does require some up & down rock climbing along the way.

Just walk out your door and look around! Seriously, it will be zero problem finding what's going on around town when you are staying on the Malecon. Check the church and the plaza in front of it. Check the stage at the arches mid-Malecon, and Parque Lazaro Cardenas south of the Rio Cuale. All those places are where events happen.

I'm not sure how busy outlying beaches will be as well. How much they will (or won't) be effected by Semana Santa PV visitors (Mismayloya, Boca to the south or Bucerias, el Anclote, etc. to the north).

It will be crazy busy at Los Muertos and no fun IMO. Too crowded. Go north to Nuevo Vallarta and maybe get a day pass at one of the hotels there as their beach is expansive and long and you can walk for miles and will be much less likely to be body to body with people. Or go south to Playa Las Gemales or Punta Negra, no facilities, but there is a restaurant at PLG that is wonderful and then you can use the bathroom there.

My husband and I will be there also from the 11th - 18th of April. We are staying in a highrise condo 3 blocks off of the beach, hopefully far away from the madding crowd, with a rooftop pool in case it gets too crazy at the beach. Does your hotel have a private pool? Perhaps that is the answer.
