Hi Michael,
Puerto Vallarta is a fabulous place to visit. We go there each January for 2 weeks. What kind of tips are you looking for? Restaurants?? Things to do?? Give me some more information and I'll be glad to answer.

You'll LOVE PV in January. Last year the water was a little cool in the pools and the ocean. Get out of town. If you want really good shopping, try the suburb of El Pitillal for better prices. There is a leather shop there where the prices are 1/2 of PV tourist areas! It's about 3 blocks off the square toward the old church. Try the Memo's Pancake House for breakfast one day. We really enjoy the Brazilian BBQ (They've got a drink called the Ron Popa which is to die for!). We tried deep sea fishing (sleeping) one day --not the most exciting time of our trip. Also, the ATV rental was fun (VERRRRY DIRTY!). The best part of the trip was just hanging out by the pool catching rays! Have fun!

Lewis

Moon Handbook's "Puerto Vallarta" by Bruce Whipperman is a great guidebook to start with.

What kind of hotel or type of trip are you wanting (resorts, rustic, secluded, in-town, etc.)? There's a bit of everything in and around PV just a matter of finding the area that best fits your ideas for fun.

As far as restaurants go, Trio is amazing, it's three floors, open air with a terrace on top... try the seabass!

Just returned on the 7th from PV. The food was incredible. Taxis are exceptional. People were all very friendly and proud of PV. Restaurants to try...La Palapa, Ay Caramba, Roberto's, El Set, Blue Shrimp and Las Palomas (great breakfast).
