There are so many resorts in that area. Do you want an all inclusive or not? What are your interests?

A good guide book would help you with hotel listings. I kow that Fodor's has one just for Cancun/PDC/Cozumel/Yucatan.

Thanks for replies. We've only been to one inclusive & it was in Turks & Caicos. Worked out well. Not sure which would be best for Playa Del Carmen. We love the beaches & snorkeling. Going to book store today to get more info since this is sort of a last minute idea - haven't done much research yet.

I have been pondering the same question, Been researching a great deal came up with Excellence Resort seems like a great place not actually in Playa del Carmen but I'm sure it's not far. If you really want to stay right in Playa del Carmen try Secrets Capri or Royal playa del Carmen they are all AI's which I have never tried before. Good luck

Royal Playa del Carmen is an adults only all inclusive resort that is right in Playa del Carmen. It is only a five minute walk form 5th ave.
Iy is a wonderful resort.
If you do not want an all inclusive, look into Playa Maya or Shangrila. They are cute small hotels right in Playa.

We really enjoy the Blue Parrot. It was a great couples escape place and is right on the beach. There is no doubt that we will return.

It had a small mini kitchen with fridge to keep a few snacks around and a wonderful sunny balcony. They do offer some discounted rates during storm season.

Check www.blueparrot.com.

Enjoy!
