Piazzola Tango

Has anyone been to Piazzola Tango in BA? How was it? How does it compare to others?

Piazzola Tango is a good show in and old theater. Dining tables are located in the orchestra area We did not buy dinner and were up graded to what was a former box, were served a drink and canapes. Show was very good, the only other tango show we have seen is Senor Tango. On the whole I prefer Senor Tango, although it is very touristic is better in my opinion. Both shows are good.Sr Tango is farther away from downtown than Piazzola which is only a few minutes from most hotels.

If you don't really know much about the world of Tango....Sr Tango provides the best show in town. It is a stage production that includes smoke, horses, and lots of glitz.

Piazzola--I preferred Piazzola because it is a more authentic venue...the place itself has a rich history, underground theater with a sordid past...the food was quite tasty and the wine was better than at Sr. Tango....This said, almost everyone else I have been with prefers Sr.Tango...or Esquina de Carlos Gardel....

A less expensive option is Taconeando...quite authentic with an excellent show. 80 pesos at Taconeando vs 200 plus at the major shows.

Well, since you added Go Dawgs....here is a suggestion: Go to one of the big shows (Sr Tango or Piazzola) and try
this small, quality show

http://www.taconeando.com/

The rate is 80 pesos for a dinner show if you reserve yourself and they don't have to pay a commission. The food is not great here...stick to the steak and you will be ok...the dancers and musicians are excellent. Lots of locals and Spanish speaking foreigners go to this show....The big shows are much more elaborate...Taconeando is more intimate and friendly...if you reserve yourself, ask for one of the tables next to the stage....

Thanks for the help. I am going to make it a point to see taconeando in addition to a "big" show.
