Park Plaza Kempinski

I've read many positive comments on this hotel as it relates to location, service, and rooms. Does anyone know if this hotel is close to a metro station?

Approximately 10 or 11 blocks to the nearest subway stop. Line D runs along Cordoba and Santa Fe, if you have a map.

But if you like the idea of staying in this hotel, don't let this deter you. Most sites in REcoleta (Cemetary, etc) are closeby, as is downtown.

If you don't want to walk to a subte station, try a taxi. Cabs are plentiful and inexpensive.

Buenos Aires also has a great bus system. Buy a Guia T, available in any newsstand for 2 pesos....The Guia provides detailed route maps....Once you learn the system, busses provide excellent transportation....

Hope this helps.

Yes, taxis are very inexpensive. You can get anywhere in the city with just a couple of dollars. The location of the hotel is excellent. I did not use the metro or bus just because taxis were cheap. I prefer public transportation when I travel, but there was no need in Buenos Aires.

I agree with PonchoTJ, radio taxis and remises, that is chauffered cars, that are even better . Drivers are extremely polite, are inexpensive. Most rides are between 1.50 and 3 dollars, .....

Have looked at the websites for all of the Kempinski hotels in BA. This one is the most expensive of them, but the rooms do not look as nice as some of the others. Can anyone compare them? Any other suggestions for hotels in this price range (around $100 -$120) in Recoleta?

Alternative suggestion in the price range you mention:
LoiSuites Recoleta. Newer hotel, very centrally located in Recoleta.

The Etoile is less expensive, and very well located, right in the middle or restaurant row with a view of the park and Recoleta cemetary.

My favorite is Art Suites, which is an aparthotel about 4 blocks from the heart of Recoleta. Does not have a gym, full service restaurant,etc....but the apartments are nice, the staff is friendly and helpful...

RE: Kempenski hotels....the Elegence is on Pueyrredon. The surrounding area is not as nice as the area around the Park Plaza and the rooms are very small.

I have not been in the rooms of the Chateu, but I have been by the hotel a number of times. I like the location, on a quiet street in Recoleta....not quite as upscale as the Park Plaza, but not bad.

The Park Plaza enjoys location, location, location. A very high rent district, more so than any of the hotels I have listed here.....
