Paradisus Playa Conchal

I posted a message today and it seems to have disappeared. My husband and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica for our Anniversary in August. We are planning on staying at the Paradisus Playa Conchal for two nights. We are arriving on Thursday morning in August but because I'm concerned that the plane may be delayed and we'll end up on a later flight arriving around 11:00 p.m I thought we should book a room at the Marriott in San Jose. We would rent a SUV and drive to the resort in the morning (on Friday). Does anyone have any suggestions for getting to the resort in a different way? hopper plane? I don't know of any other options to get there at this point. Would really appreciate any help. I have searched the message boards but have not really seen where someone flew into San Jose and DROVE to the Paradisus Playa Conchal resort. Please help! Much appreciation.

LuvNYC,
Just curious. . .what time does your flight arrive SJO? And what time does it leave?

Our flight is scheduled to arrive Houston at 8:25 a.m. and leave Houston to Costa Rica at 9:20 a.m. arriving San Jose @ 11:58 a.m.. I am concerned with such a tight connection in Houston! Our flight leaves to go home from SJO @ 1:00 p.m. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You're flying from NYC? We have caught the 9:25 flight out of Houston to SJO several times with just an hour connection in between. We have never missed the connecting flight, and I doubt you will either. Still. . .I know what you mean. The central valley has tons of treasure areas for you to explore! I don't know the location of the Marriott in San Jose, but I hope it is out of town near the airport. That will put you in range of some very nice little areas for sightseeing without having to navigate the city, which is difficult to say the least--no street signs, lots of one way street, etc.

And for sure you will want to go back the day before your flight. 1:00 is just too early (arrive airport at 11:00) to be driving in from Guanacaste!

Friday and Saturday nights are excellent nights to be at PPC because the weekend shows tend to be the very best!

Sorry, I didn't really finish my thought. Need more caffeine this morning! What I meant to go ahead and say (and which you probably figured out) is that you will have an entire afternoon in the central valley to look around--and that is a good thing! There are all kinds of things to see and do in just 2 or 3 hours time.

You can hire a private transfer & it might be cheaper than renting a car (which you probably won't use much while at Paradisus). You should be able to arrange this through the hotel or you can look up Intrabus (I think that's the name) online.
