Panama with 2 kids in august

Starting to plan a trip to Panama this summer. Me, husband , 2 kids (13 and 16). We loved the beaches of costa rica last august and want to replicate some of that laid back feeling we had there. I can't figure out where to fly to and how to avoid taking little planes once I am there (i can't fly on them). We will have about 2 weeks and do not mind driving around. I got some great advice from Fodors last time around. Any suggestions for a great itinerary? We would like to stay in 2-3 different places during the 2 weeks.
THanks

thank you so much for your advice - I will look into all of the places mentioned. We went to costa rica last august and we were so nervous about the rain but it turned out that it rained just a little bit each day and the rest of the time it was great. Is that what we can expect in Panama or will it just pour all day and night??
thanks

Check out http://www.senderopanama.com/
We used them last year on our trip to Panama. They were amazing with our kids. I wrote a trip report that you can check out - click my name to find it.
We only stayed in Panama City and took day trips - but they do offer more.

losolasresrt.com

bocastesoroescondido.com

Panama City Radisson Decapolis good value for me

isla-contadora.com if time

Yandup Island in Kuna Yala VERY exotic if time

Expect lots of rain and heat usually prefer winter there

Like South America lots cooler late summer early fall

Lots less storms guanguiltagua.com Ecuador my absolute

fav for wildlife biodiversity then.

Happy Planning!
