Packing for CR trip 6/17-6/29
Hi All-
Thanks again to everyone for all of the great advice. I am so excited for our trip (though I dread packing). I notice that many of you do not check luggage, but carry on instead. I am highly doubtful that my family will be able to bypass checking luggage. Is there a problem with checking (other than the standard risk of never getting your bags)?? I promise a detailed report when we get back. We'll be at Buena Vista Villas from 6/17 through 6/24, then Los Lagos until the 27th, then Pura Vida. Maybe I'll get to meet one of you? Jenn

These days it seems like fewer people are carrying on because they can't carry on a lot of lotions etc. Stuff you do need like sunscreen.
It does save some time if you don't have to wait for your luggage. I have been just carrying on for years now. Recently, because I have to bring more stuff down, I have been checking stuff in. I am looking forward to not having to check anything in again. If you aren't taking any in country flights I wouldn't worry about it.
I did have a suitcase get delayed for a day on my last return. Delta delivered it to the house in good shape the next day.
Enjoy your trip!
If you see a man with a beard hauling two huge bins, a couple of backpacks and a dog when you get there say hi Steve. My husband and puppy are heading down on the 17th too. They will be on the 10 am flight out of Atlanta.

You can do it!! If I can pack for a month at a time in a carry-on pack, you can do it, too. It's easy enough (imo) to work out the liquid/gel thing - pack plenty of great quality bug stuff and sun block and don't worry about the shampoo and toothpaste - take tiny starters and buy as you go. My packing list is #15 in the FAQ thread of the Thorntree Forum if you're interested. Happy trails!
