need spanish dictionary
Does anyone know a good spanish/english dictionary I can buy? I would like a small pocket size one, but it needs to have print large enough for a 55 yo to see. I currently have the LP latin america language guide but I was looking for something more detailed. Thanks

I love my dog-eared Langenscheidt. The plastic cover has kept it in good condition for years. Print is smallish, but not impossible (I'm 57 with two cataract surgeries in my history). Just look for a 2007 or 2008 edition as they have revised the listings for words beginning with "Ch" and "LL" to (finally!) put them in alphabetical order rather than in a separate section. Quick verb guide in the back.

I was hoping to get something online or mail order. We live in a fairly small town so the selections are not good .We have been coming to central america yearly for the last 10 or so years and our lone spanish speaking traveler is aging out . I've been reading and listening to tapes so I can at least get by. Some of the places we have been to don't speak a word of english. Thanks for your help

This is my favorite - maybe the same one TrvlMaven is talking about:

The phrase book I use is "Just Enough Spanish - How to Get By and be Easily Understood" by Passport Books.
I have a few dictionaries:
Oxford's "Spanish Minidictionary" is VERY small and has a plastic cover. The typeface is pretty darn tiny though.
Harper Collins Spanish Dictionary is a normal paperback sized book but easily readable.
I also have a gorgeous Laird & Lee's vest pocket Standard English-Spanish Dictionary inscribed in 1907 that someone gave me as a gift that I love because it looks like it's been around the world.
