Mopan River Resort vs. Adventura Spa
Hi-
My fiance and I are trying to decide on where to go for our honeymoon. It doesn't need to be when we get married, so we're looking at june, nov or Dec depending on availability. We were thinking adventura spa (had several people recommend it) but just saw a review of Mopan River resort and are very intrigued. We like to do things (snorkel, kayak, etc)and are fascinated by mayan ruins and such, so both fit that bill. Other than that I know they are completely different. I was hoping people who had been to either would share their experiences and thoughts... Thank you!!

MRR is not a spa nor is it close to the sea. You might want to take a look at inns in Placencia or on Ambergris Caye, which will offer both land and sea. Or split your trip and spend a few days at a jungle lodge and then conclude on the beach.

We just got back from Belize. We stayed on Long Caye in Glover's Reef. Did tons of Kayaing, snorkling, diving, volleyball, etc). The trip was arranged thru www.Slickrock.com.
It wasn't a luxurious trip in Rodeo-Drive-type, but for us it was because we got to stay on a private island, no cars, no crazy vendors, etc. So, it is not SPA type vacation, but check it out..maybe you'll like it.

Katie- Thanks for your reply, I know MRR isn't a spa or beach- hence the problem because our choices are so different. That's why I'm hoping people who have been to either will give me reviews. I've seen you have been to many places in Belize- and I assume you do so for a living based on your e-mail. Have you been to MRR?

IL60103- thanks for the recommendation! I'll check it out but the excursions and opportunities to see so many ruins and such is what excited me about MRR. But the kayaking and everything sounds wonderful! Thank you!

Yes, I live and work in tourism in Belize. I love the Cayo district of Belize where MRP is, but prefer the jungle lodges in the area. Take a look at www.chaacreek.com, www.duplooys.com or www.crystalparadise.com.
