1st of 2 replies. this one is specifically for emd re priceline. we are not bidding because 2 of the 4stars are in polanco (too far for us). there is a great sight that covers priceline bids. biddingfortravel.com it shows that the 4stars in mexico city are going for $70-$85.

2nd reply. robertino thinks that the "maria christina" is very close to "plaza de la republica". can anyone confirm? can anyone recommend this hotel? does anyone know the hotel's web-site?

I have never found a web site for the Maria Christina, which is in Rio Lerma, north of Reforma, across from the Zona Rosa, but there is lots of information about this old standby in tripadvisor. I did finally see a good book in the Moon guide to Mexico City showing the Plaza de Republica and it does look fairly close. There are other hotels on the map that appear even closer. The only one I'm familiar with is the Hotel Imperial, right on Reforma, which some friends stayed at and liked. They paid about $80 for a large room. The hotel dates from the turn of the century, and attracts many Europeans.

Looks like the Maria Cristina is about 7 blocks away.

Not bad. But I think the Imperial is much closer.
