Has anybody stayed at the Marriott properties in both Puerta Vallarta & Cancun? Which did you prefer and why? We're planning on cashing in some Marriott Rewards points for a vacation in January.

We have been to Cancun before - stayed at the Westin. Loved the beach in Cancun. Have heard that the beach at Marriott in Puerto Vallarta is not so nice.

I booked a week ( using my rewards) at the JW in Cancun a couple of months ago for January. It was tight then - only certain days available. Have you checked availability yet??

I stayed at the one in Puerto Vallarta. It was WONDERFUL! I also prefer Puerto Vallarta much more than Cancun. I like lying around the pool more than the ocean so the beach isn't a hugh issue for me.

If it's beach you want then Cancun is the place you will want, if it's atmosphere and a lot to do in a town that has so much to offer then P. Vallarta is the one you want to go to. They have almost no beach in P. Vallarta it is small but the pool area is very nice. Good luck

Casa Magna Marriott in PV is a beautiful property, located in The Marina between the airport and downtown. What Puerto Vallarta has to offer is a lovely, romantic, authentic atmosphere with great shopping, restaurants, activities, etc. yet a normal town going about its business. Cancun being Caribbean has better water and beaches but is a more typical built-up tourist resort area.

My vote is for the Marriot in Cancun. The beach is wonderful, the pool overlooks the beach, and Cozumel is just a short boat ride away.

my vote would be for the JW Marriott Cancun. Ranked in the top ten hotels in Latin America.
