Only stayed there one time and not this year (Alaska Airline put us up there when a flight couldn't get out).
It is a huge hotel and gorgeous property. The swimming pool area is really pretty, the beach a small strip like most in the Marina. Generally a bit Mexi-Disney in feel.
I found the restaurant expensive, but I normally stay on the 'southside' of town which is cheaper.
"The Marina" where this hotel is located is about 10-15 mins. north of downtown PV, with bus and/or taxi service available.

This is a great hotel if you want to stay in a chain property. I visited it last Christmas when I was staying at the Quinta Real and it is a beautiful hotel on a great strip of beach. I talked to a number of people who were staying there and they really enjoyed it and had absolutely no complaints. One of the people I spoke with was from Europe and he said that he comes to PV every year for two weeks and only stays at the Casa Magna.

Butsey....am getting conflict information on web sites that say Casa Magna is "all inclusive (food, drinks)"? Could you please ask your daughter if she's knowledgeable on this? Thanks for your reply. This would be my fourth visit to PV.

i have heard that they now have an all inclusive too I would definitely recommend this hotel it might be a little more expensive but I think it is worth it! I have always stayed at the Sheraton but they are not open since the hurricane last year. I am going with a few other people this year to the Occidental in Nuevo Vallarta for the first time it will be an all inclusive which I usually do not like but we decided to give it a try. Of course this is very far away from town but I have been to town so many times I don't mind not going every night this time. If you need to know any more info please let me know.

I can only recommend the hotels that I know of that I or people I know have stayed. They are The Sheraton which I love, The Marriott which my daughter loves and I also, the Camino Real which is a great place not far from town, the beach is beautiful there! As for the food,I only liked their breakfasts and lunches, did'nt like their dinners at all! It was reasonalble enough we went out to dinner almost every night. I think most of all the hotels are nice I only would recommend the highest rating ones because the service and other things are wonderful. Any more info please ask. OH one more thing I also stayed at LaJolla Mismaloya which is very nice but so far away from town. And also the Krystal which also was a very nice hotel. The only thing is things change from year to another so that is why I recommend only 5 or 6 star hotels. Have a great vacation
