Makanda -- villa or studio?
We are thinking of spending a couple of nights at Makanda on our September honeymoon. Should we splurge for a villa, or is it just as well to have a studio for the two of us?
Thanks so much,
Effie

i think we had a villa (room 5). it was perfect for us. i can't say about the studios. to me, it was important to be able to close doors at night to use a little a.c. and keep out bugs. some of the units are open-air. we had glass doors across the front we left open during the day, closing them at dusk before the bugs came out...no problem. we LOVED makanda!

We stayed in a studio while there. If you can afford it, I'd splurge with a villa, although our studio was lovely. Some of the villas are airconditioned and some are open air. I *think* all the studios have a/c. It's a wonderful place for a honeymoon.

I stayed in a studio and it had A/C. Saw beautiful sunsets from our porch every evening and monkeys played in the trees in the morning. We loved it and had pleanty of room. I did not see any of the villas so cannot compare. If money is no object, the villa is probably bigger. If you want to find ways to save here or there, my opinion is that the studio is perfectly lovely for most.

I agree. Our villa had more room than we needed, as we spent most of our time on the porch rocking or in bed. We ate breakfast outside, also. Most important to me was the A.C. at night and being able to close doors at night. Just inquire. The pool is a dream! Small, but very relaxing - great banana daquiris.
