Los Cabos Resorts

My husband and I are looking for a luxurious kids-free getaway at the end of August. We're looking into Mexico - specifically Los Cabos b/c we live in SF and it's a direct flight. We're deciding between a few recommended resorts - Marquis, Las Ventanas and Esperanza. They all sound great - it's difficult to decide. Besides Los Cabos, we are considering Tides in Zihuatenajo and Four Seasons Punta Mita.

I've only been thru the 3 places you've mentioned. Esperanza, I actually have neighbors that stayed there recently, they never repeat a place to visit, yet would go back there in a heartbeat! It is an amazing resort for what I saw. I loved all 3-tough choice! Marquis was pretty cool looking, but had a swankier "see and be seen crowd." It was easy to walk around the grounds. Las Ventanas seemd like a quiet getaway, and at least from the grounds, was stunning-very private. They only let me "glance" at the grounds, they are very protective of the guests. LV gives waters, sorbets at the pool, Marquis didn't seem to have as much "service" around the pools.

I probably didn't help much, but those 3 are all excelent choices!

Dear RL:

The Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort is adult only and very nice. Give it a look.

Have fun.

All very nice, but check out the Hilton Los Cabos. Yes, it's a Hilton, but probably the best Hilton in the world. They are AAA Four-Diamond, along with Marquis and have the highest customer satisfaction ratings on TripAdvisor.com...ahead of Las Ventanas and Marquis. Their renovation really made it luxurious and they have amazing service.

Four Seasons Punta Mita would be a longer flight to Puerto Vallarta, plus a 1+ hour drive from there out to the resort.

Also do you know that August & September are THE height of the rainy season in PV & Zijuat (not sure about Cabo)?

I've been to the Cabo area many times, maybe 15-18, and to Vallarta four times ... never stayed at any of these super-fancy resorts (Westin Los Cabos was the top of the food chain for us, we got it for $99/night once when they first opened) but from all I've heard the Four Seasons Punta Mita is one of the best resort hotels in Mexico, and because it's pretty isolated I think I'd pick it over the ones in Cabo, unless you are avid marlin fishermen or avid golfers (Cabo is better for those sports).

I've been down there every month and for sure August and September are the worst times to go. If you can possibly change to Nov - April you'll find more enjoyable conditions. Vallarta is very humid and it rains many afternoons and nights. Cabo is also fairly humid and very hot and uncomfortable, and it's the height of the hurricane season.

We used to figure the odds at about 1-in-4 that a hurricane would mess up the fishing that time of year (direct hits are rare but even a storm 200 miles off-shore can bring heavy rains).

Better than staying at home, but you are not seeing the area at its best in Aug - Sept.

Hello RL:

I must agree on looking up the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica it is a holistic resort and it is only adults, beautiful place, and as well the Marquis is very high-end, Las ventanas I heard it is overprice, but I havenīt been there, Hilton I like a lot too, but there is children around, and in August for sure...Hopefully my review is helpful to you.....
