Jelly fish???or something else?

The family just came back from a 7 day trip to Cancun,Mexico. We stayed at one of the prominent hotels in the strip, swam couple of times at the beach because it was just lovely and came back home with rashes all over our body after 14 days! Is this condition typical or does this happened only on certain months-May? Other patrons had similar condition.

Annnn,
We also just returned from Cancun. Our resort notified us the first day about the thimble jellyfish. They said you would not notice the stings immediately, but hours or days later. They suggested after being in the ocean, to put vinegar on your skin, wait 15 minutes, then shower. I know this is too little too late for you! have you tried the old remedy for jellyfish...a paste of alcohol and meat tenderizer?

Eurax Lotion and antihistimines. It's called pica pica in these parts and sea lice in the US.

Infestation of the jellyfish- is this an all year round? If it is not, when is it safe to swim in the ocean?

I just heard it lasts from Mothers day to Fathers Day, so you should be ok. But if you want to take precautions and you have been stung.... the larvae seems to get trapped in your bathing suit, so they say take it off when you get out of the water, Rinse yourself in SALT water (not fresh) use vinegar to rub all over, and change into another dry suit....
