Isla Mujeres- reasonably priced hotel?

Hello all! My husband and I are considering Isla Mujeres for 5 days in February (high season, I know!) and are looking for your opinions on nice, romantic, reasonably priced hotels.

Of course I fell in love with the oceanview jacuzzi picture at Villa Rolandi, but that's out of the question But we would like to stay under $200 per night, clean, cozy and comfortable, with an ocean view...is this even possible? We don't need many bells and whistles- restaurants, spas, etc.

I admit that I'm in the very early planning stages, so I don't know as much about the geography of the island. Any suggestions/opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks so much for the ideas! I look forward to researching them. Do either of you by chance have pictures of the hotels, or know where to find them?

Any additional suggestions would be great! Thanks all!

I have pictures, but unfortunately, they are now on a shipping container on the way to Costa Rica where I'll be moving too next month. Maybe do a search on webshots.com?

OOOh, exciting Ally!

Are you doing some film work or moving there for good?

suze, forgive me, but I can't find the thread you mentioned. Would you mind copying the link here?
Such a "duh" moment for me, I'm sorry!

Tarheels,
The link has been moved up now, should be very easy to see.

Diana,
I guess you could say both! Yes, I'm moving there for good. Husband and I are opening a small hotel/restaurant/bar in Nosara. And yes, hope to do some film work too! There is an area off the Osa Penisula that has many hundreds of dolphins I can film in the wild, as an add on the to Captive Dolphin film, which has been put on hold due to the move!

Thanks! I think I found it- the one titled "Isla Mujeres, Mexico," correct? So sorry to crowd the board with silliness!

I tried to "top" it by adding a post, but it didn't come to the top - things are kind of fishy here at Fodors the last few days.

I was following that one myself because I'm interested in IM and hotel options and prices (I go to PV every year but am considering branching out if I can afford it).

suze and Tarheels, try the site
www.myislamujeres.com. Very active message board and they also have reviews of all the hotels. We stayed at Playa Media Luna the first time we went and loved it. This last May I tried to book it with Vicki at Lost Oasis (very helpful) but it was sold out first for the regatta. Then we changed our dates to do Isla at the end of the trip instead, Media Luna was booked for a wedding. So we stayed at Cabinas Maria del Mar, another great place right on North Beach (pool, restaurant, etc.). Have a great time! You can go to Villa Rolandi for dinner, the food is the best on the island (although for casual, Chile Loco's is good).

I emailed Playa la Media Luna, and they only have a suite available for the week we will be there. While this would be great, I'm concerned the trip might quickly go above our budget- especially with airfare unlikely to go down.

May need to rethink our trip plans, unfortunately...but thank you for the suggestions! I hope to make it to IM in the near future
