why would you not want to go to venezuela? i've never been there, but neither have you. go and live a little. i'm sure you won't have to fear for your life and even if it is dirty, you can wash up when you get home. don't live for comfort, it does not help you grow.

Where are you going to visit? I have been there twice, both times were long holidays. It has changed a lot since the coup in the middle 90's. It depends on what and where you are going. I would not go back because it had changed so much from the first time we were there but you could enjoy it. It is pretty dangerous in Caracus - I don't recommend staying in that city. You have to remember that the majority of people in Venezuela live off less in a year than we make in a month so crime is a big factor.

If you stay away from Caracas your all set...if you want info on Merida write me tomorrow..my friend is from there and is going back... and I can get you some info... I would not hesitate to go to Venezuela..except my friend would sit on me if I mentioned Caracas (I've been there years ago)..disease is rampant..but we've been to Margarita, Puerta La Cruz and went to Caracas for a day many years ago...our Venezuelan friend does not recommend it..

Hi Brian..here is the info our friend just seconds ago gave me..If visiting Merida take the cable car (teleferico) there are the mountains )El Paramo).. The city itself is not that great, however, visit the old buildings and churches.. If time permits go to the Jose del Acequias (there is a place to stay overnight). If you want to spend a night near a place called Tabay there is a bed/breakfast Estancia Mucu Nuy.. The name of the person who runs it is Joel Diaz..014-974-3803..his mobile.. and e-mail for him is... [email protected].. If going to Los Roquest...BRING THE HIGHEST SPF SUN PROTECTION FOR THE ENTIRE BODY YOU CAN FIND AND PLENTY OF IT...there is no shade and you must pay for shade..a hat is a must..and lots of water

Hi..I know Brian your aprehensive, but if you've traveled to these other spots..go for it....yes, we went to Costa Rica, last year for the second time...we were in Margarita years and years ago before Playa Agua was developed and we have been in Puerta La Cruez twice..several years ago.. Would I go if I were you..and I'm a senior citizen...yes, yes, yes....

Not having been to Cuba or Thailand..I can't answer that, but trust me I'd be on a plane if I could.. But, I will send your message to my friend in Merida right now..if your e-mail is correct he can answer you direct...

I was in Isla Margarita two years ago. It was totally safe from my experience. It wasn't too bad, however there are MANY more places in S. AMerica and the Caribbean that are better. I would rather go to Cartagena, Colombia. The violence lived in the interior isn't seen there and there's tons of things more to see and do.

Brian..we have to stop meeting like this..an older woman and a younger man!!! Okay, there was a problem, but it seems to have gone..but check other sources..Margarita and I think Caracas had the problem..but other areas did not..
