Is Puerto Vallerta crowded mid-May?

We are traveling to PV May 17th-21st staying at the Marriot Casa Magna. We recently tried to add an additional room so some friends could join us, but found the hotel to be completely booked. This is our second trip to PV with the last being in May as well which we thought was considered "off peak" and less crowded. Are we in for fights over lounge chairs due to crowds?

Thanks!

Maybe there's something specific booked at the Marriott?

Because you are correct that is definitely not high-season in PV.

I think the Marriott has gotten a lot more popular these days, due to good reviews, reasonable prices and Hurricane Wilma in Cancun -- both Marriotts in Cancun are closed til late May/June, and I wonder if Marriott rewards members aren't switching to PV...

We just found out that the Marriott now has a minumum night stay requirement (at least during that time period). When we put in a 4 night stay we found rooms, our friends were trying for a 3 night stay and nothing came up. The reservation rep. even found it unusual and had to ask her supervisor about it. Anyway, there are rooms available.
Thanks for the replies!
