Is it safe to go to Buenos Aires alone?

I'm travelling alone next month (female, 30 years old) to Brazil and Argentina... you will be fine if you just exercise common sense - not walking alone at dark, showing of your wealth, securing and watching your luggage etc. I think Argentina is probably one of the safer countries in South America.

I don't know when you will be in Bs As, but I will be there from Dec 14 to January 2. I am a normal 43 year old professional on vacation. I have been in some rough places but people tend to leave me alone.
If you are there during that time and want safe company just let me know. I enjoy campany as I sight see.
Usual rules apply. No La Boca after dark and only use radio taxis and remises.
The locals can give you more info.

Even though I usually travel with DH, many times I go to the stores or just walking on the streets of BsAs on my own and feel completely safe. You can check other posts for recommended hotels and areas, but the best recommendation is use only RADIO taxis. Other usual safe guards of not displaying expensive jewelry, cameras, etc. will make you blend right in with the locals.

I have taken between 150-200 students, 90% female, from US universities to Argentina over the past four years without a single incident. We stay in Palermo Viejo, near Plaza Italia. Students travel on their own in radio taxis and the subway....and they go out regularly....so the group is not sheltered from the environment.
There are a number of threads on TripAdvisor about safety in Buenos Aires....but the main points are to leave expensive jewelery at home, don't drink to excess, and take radio taxis from reputable companies.
