If You're Headed to Puerto Viejo. . .
Sean420 recently offered all of us (on his blog) a great rundown of some of the best restaurants in the area, sampled during his recent visit.
The Tico Times also recently ran a feature on the food culture of the Southern Caribbean coast. If you're planning a visit there, you might want to make take notes!
Happy Thanksgiving!

shillmac -- I read the blog and had been following his trip from PV over on TA. The pictures of the food have me wanting to be there so bad! I'm so glad we decided to make it back to that side next Spring.
I don't think I ever got back to your e-mail re: BA. Sorry about that. Since they know us they were happy to have us back, and of course daughter wants to stay there and we'd love to see the completion of the coy and turtle ponds. Plus, we will miss the 5 dogs.
However, I've just put in an availability request for La Costa Papito since it looks great and is near Cocles with on-site restaurant and bar. Probably full cause it's busy time, but we'll see.
Is Cocles fairly swimmable? It looks like a nice beach that would have visitors, whereas Playa Negra was fairly deserted.

You're welcome. I couldn't help but pass this link along as well as it sounds like a pretty cool hotel (although not new apparently) up near Cahuita.
Staying close to Cahuita won't appeal to many people since PV is now considered the hot spot of the area (used to be Cahuita), but still the property looks interesting.
Swiss owned--not surprising as Swiss folks seem particularly prone to settle in the southern Caribbean area of CR.

Hmm--that is a bummer. He was such a hit at the bar and with his guitar at dinner. That's a couple of significant losses they've had lately. I'll bet he's doing the real estate thing more lately. All the real estate possibilities down there really make me nervous. I can just see that new airport going in and the entire area being swamped with tourists and hotels. . .
