Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November in Cancun, same as here in Florida, with the highest incidences for hurricanes being September & October. Was in Cancun last September and had beautiful weather the entire time. Was there again in mid-November & late March, and had a few days of rain and high winds, so you never know. It will be extremely hot & humid, though. My recommendation is to go and have fun. It's a great place!

Shelly, I was in Cancun late August 2001 and a few days before I got there a hurricane was causing Cancun many problems. Luckily when I got there I had 10 beautiful days. I always liked to take that last week of August as one of my vacation weeks through the years but I always found that I ran into hurricanes no matter where I went: Florida, Caribbean or wherever hurricanes are problems. I have now moved that vacation week up to the first week of August and it has been working out better

Hey there,

We were in Playa last Sept, 19th/29th, middle of that very nasty hurricane. It is a iffy season, but we still go the same time every year. Book it and have a great time

I stayed at Oasis Cancun last year Sept. 23rd and had 4 awful days of Hurricane Isidore - we had fun because we went to the clubs and drank thousands of Corona's, but otherwise, no beach, no swimming, no sun...just soaked. We just drank the whole time. I am planning early November this year and PRAYING for no hurricane, I have yet to see the beautiful Cancun.

August and September typically has been the worst months for hurricanes, but then the weather everywhere has not been typical this year. Get the travel insurance, go, don't worry about it and have fun.

Unfortunately Shelly already came back, had great weather but a lousy time because boogey boards weren't free, the bus ride to the Moon Palace was with a sales pitch it wasn't free either and food choices for dinner weren't varied. Thank God she didn't have a hurricane, then what would she have done.
