I just got back from Cancun, everyday the sun was blazing at 95 degrees temp. I stayed at the Cancun Palace under a hut on the beach, the water was the best, most days calm and other days slight to medium waves. If you don't have any tropical storms or hurricanes in the area you should be ok.

I spent my best hurricane in Cancun one September. That's only to say, things are unpredictable in Sept. in that area.

Hi...we just returned from Cancun. It is VERY hot. Heat index about 108 and dewpoints in the high 70's-low 80's. Very uncomfortable. We stayed at Cancun Palace and it was horrible.

I would be curious to know what was so horrible at the Cancun Palace too because I just spent 9 nights there Aug 1 - 10th and every day was picture perfect 95 degrees. I actually had a blast there, lots of friendly people from all over the US, bartenders poured generous drinks without a wait, the same for table service. I would have to say that the staff in the hotel could not do enough for me, they were very very good, I had fun with them. Breakfast was the best meal of the day followed by lunch and if you ate dinner at the barbecue by the pool it was fine. Good entertainment in the lobby at night. I would do it again.

When we arrived at Cancun Palace, they had our accommodations wrong and wouldn't correct them, plus everything we had been told about the Palace Resorts (and had checked out in advance) was wrong, for instance that they had non-motorized water sports included, in particular, boogie boards for our two teenagers. The only non-motorized water sport included was swimming. Also, free use of all the other Palace Resorts with free shuttle service. No free shuttle service and only one trip to the Moon Palace and that's only if you went to their champagne brunch and promised to stay 90 minutes for "something"....sounded pretty fishy to us. The staff could have cared less that we were unhappy with these turns of events. We were not asked once, including at check-out, how our stay was. It just seemed that no one cared about customer satisfaction. Don't know if it's the attitude of Mexico or the Cancun Palace.

We thought the cleanliness at the buffets left a lot to be desired. Everyone touching all the spoons, etc. and then licking their fingers while dropping the spoon back into the food was not too appetizing. No air conditioning in the hotel except for the rooms (thank God), the elevators were breathtakingly miserable, the main lobby where they held all the nightly entertainment was miserable with no air conditioning. Just sit there and sweat....not enjoyable at all.

You are right, breakfast was the best meal of the day. It was downhill from there. Everyday...the same things. Yes, the barbeque at the pool was good...maybe once or twice....not the entire week. The food was just one big production line with no variety. One night there was only 3 selections at the barbeque buffet and when we asked why, they claimed it was because there weren't as many people there that night. No dessert, salads, fruits, nothing that night. Looked like as many people to us. The strawberry daiquiris tasted like fruit punch.....not strawberry.

I hated the place, couldn't wait to leave, and it ruined my entire vacation, let alone feeling like I wasted a lot of money. Will never go a place where all they want is your money and not caring about satisfaction. I understand everyone has differing opinions on every place....I guess mine are high standards.....I like to feel like a person and not a number.

I would go back to Aruba and skip Mexico.

Well, what Shelly is saying is true but when I got the same picture myself I decided that I wasn't going to let it ruin my vaction because I don't get much every year. When I got the picture that the food in the restaurants inside the hotel wasn't going to be good I decided to just eat the barbecue and let it go. Once I did that I focused on what was available and not what was not available.

Its true about the Moon Palace I told them to keep their 90 minute talk and I paid for the taxi myself because I wanted to see the place, I did and it was worth it and I would never go back again. I really wanted to see how bad the beach was and I could see no one was in the water. Me and my family like the beach so the Moon Palace would be out for us.

Its true the lobby of the Cancun Palace was like a sauna every night but I focused on the latin music and having a couple of drinks and having fun with the people.

Actually they have a restaurant where you have to dress up and make reservations so you would think it was good. At the beginning of the week I made reservations for several nights, I ended up cancelling them after 3 dinners there because my family didn't want to eat there anymore. One night they brought my mushrooms and shrimp cocktail at the same time and the hot food was cold and the cold food was hot, I couldn't eat it so at that point I ate outside the rest of the time and didn't focus on the food.

Actually one night we ate out and I wanted to eat out more. I know of several people in the hotel who did eat out almost every night and even one got sick when they ate at Coco Bongos across the street. We never got sick at all at the Cancun Palace and I don't know anybody who did. Just alot of people having a great time and the staff was very good to me even changed my room from a back room with no view to the best view of the hotel but I did have to put on a little act for that though but it worked.

I know I said in the previous post that I would go back but only for the people and the staff but not the food.

I have never been to the Cancun Palace. A couple I know just went to Moon Palace on there honeymoon and said they would never go anywhere else in Cancun. Cancun has many restaurants to sample, and an AI is probably not the way to go. One seldom receives top notch food at AI buffet. There are some exceptions and I think from what I have read that maybe the Royal Hideway.

Have visited Cancun Palace numerous times and have yet to have one bad experience. I'm sure there are exceptions and that some people can have a bad experience at Cancun Palace. But if you read enough reviews, that exception happens at almost every resort in the Cancun area. What one person raves about, another will think is absolutely horrible. Sorry you had a bad experience, Shelly

In retrospect I would say that the Cancun Palace is a very middle of the road middle class place, which is fine for me. If your standards are higher then you didn't belong there in the first place. People with standards that high belong in the Ritz Carlton just 2 hotels away from the Cancun Palace but their standard comes at a higher price, can you meet it?
