How to plan trip to Iguazu
Hi there,
We're planning a trip the first week of November to Buenos Aires. It looks like we'll be going for 7 (or possibly 8) nights. We arrive on a Wednesday morning. We'd like to spend Wed and Thurs in BA, then maybe take a day trip to Uraguay on Fri, back in BA for Sat and maybe Sun and then fly to Iguazu either Sun or Mon and stay for 2 nights. Then the last day back in BA.
We are having trouble deciding how to book hotels for this itinerary. I've seen someone post on this forum that they just booked a hotel in BA for the whole time (keeping and paying for the room while they were also paying for a room in Iguazu). I'm not too keen on that idea, but we don't like the idea of having to lug baggage just to see the falls and checking in and out of a new hotel each time. Any suggestions?? Are there more reputable hotels that will hold your luggage for a couple of days...or is that a really bad idea?
Also, YIKES, I just checked availability for the Sheraton at Iguazu and they are totally booked!! It sounds like everyone on this forum suggests staying there...so I'm bummed. Are there other good places to stay...or can you get a room if you go thru WOWargentina or something similar?
Also, we actually were hoping to just get to BA and play it by ear as far as the trip to Iguazu...just making airline reservations and booking a hotel thru an agency in the city...but it looks like that plan is out.
Help!! Anyone who's done this itinerary...what's the best way to do it??
Thanks so much for any help,
Lisa

For a 8 days first time trip to Argentina I suggest you take first 5 days for BA and last 3 days / 2 nights for Iguazu falls or vicev.
Donīt book to Uruguay ( Colonia ??) as you may do it from BA and if rainning skipp it .
It looks like a raising tourism is complicating things for tourists , specially for best hotels .
Iguazu falls has other options for Hotels, not as well located as the Sheraton but that shouldnīt be a reason for not visiting Iguazu as it is a full day outdoors trip, not being at Sheraton, means you will need a short Taxi drive / bus to attractions .
What i would do is visit the Sheraton thatīs in the middle of the Park sometime during the day for lunch / tea on their terrace looking to the falls.
Its not necessary to book a hotel for the whole stay ! Most hotels will keep your luggage ,even if thereīs no place when back . A good tip make miracles.
Good luck!

Good advice from nephew santiagov.
As he said, just do Iguazú first and then BA, or the other way around, trying to minimize time spent in airports, for a rather short trip.
If the weather looks good, consider doing a boat outing in our Delta.

Two suggestions for rooms at the Sheraton at the Falls-- 1) you could call the Hotel directly and 2) you could try a BA travel agent. Both of those options have gotten us rooms at hotels when they appear to be booked. I think you will defintely need airline reservations in advance. I believe fares are a bit less expensive and that the flights also fill up during busy times. BA and the Falls are wonderful -- have a great trip!

Thanks.
Any names of other hotels in Iguazu??
I called Sheraton's main number but not the actual hotel...maybe I'll give that a try. And I have an e-mail in to WOWargentina to see if they can get us in.
What is the best way to book airfare to Iguazu??
Thanks again for all your help!
