Honeymoon. Riviera Maya or Cancun

Hi All

Im getting Married in September 2007 and would love to stay in either of the above for 5 nights. What area is best? and how far are they from eachother? Can anyone reccomend some good hotels which arnt too pricy? Are we better off going for an all inclusive package?

Thanks Rose

For a honeymoon you might want to look into adults only resorts. I can recommend Excellence, Secrets Capri, and Royal Playa del Carmen which are all in the Riviera Maya area.

I'm not an all inclusive fan, but many love it. For a not too expensive honeymoon, I'd check out the Marriott Casa Magna Cancun or the Hilton, or for a really nice place, the JW Marriott.
The Riviera Maya is about 45 minutes south of Cancun, and that's where lots of the all inclusives are.
The Riu Palace Mexico is in Playa del Carmen, it looks pretty nice for an all inclusive.
The Le Blanc resort in Cancun is a very nice looking all inclusive adult resort.

When deciding whether or not you'd like all inclusive, keep in mind whether you'd like a spot with a lot of other people, or if you'd rather have a more private stay. Sociable people tend to enjoy all ins more; they are usually more crowded.

Just as Frankie said...depends on what you're looking for - crowds and heaps of people or peace and solitude.

And can you expand on not too pricey...how much do you want to spend per night? $400, $500, $600, $700?

I've been to several all-inclusives in the Playa area, and the one I would enjoy most on a honeymoon is the El Dorado Royale. Meals are a la carte and it wasn't very crowded when I was there, although that was a few years ago. Riu Palace is huge but I never had trouble finding a beach chair. Iberostar Quetzal is a good one too.

For the Mayan area, we stayed at the Barcelo Colonial........a large complex, but has the nicest 2 km of beach. If you want to be alone, there is enough beach, if you want activities...it has many. We did see a couple of beach weddings while we were there.
