Help with hotel choices in the Yucatan Peninsula

Okay, I have an itinerary and some lodging choices for our family of four (girls ages 6 and 8). We like smaller boutique hotels in general but for this trip would like to make sure we aren't too hot (maybe we need air conditioning?) and a swimming pool. We are traveling from June 28 to July 16 and the itinerary is as follows:
Arrive June 28 Cancun, stay at the Courtyard Cancun (near airport)
June 29 to July 2: Akumal/ Akumal Beach Resort (need one experience of big pools, etc. for kids)
July 2 to July 6: Tulum. Need hotel here.
July 6 to July 10: Merida. Need hotel here, can be in outskirts, little town outside Merida or right downtown if that's better.
July 10 to July 13: Valladolid, El Meson de Marquez
July 13 to July 16: Cancun or little town outside Cancun. We don't do nightlife (kids, you know). need hotel.
Thanks!

Tulum Hotel- Los Lirios
Upper "Ocean View" rooms are best. Good price, Beautiful beach. Rooms are large, have air conditioning (not too common in Tulum, decent buffet breakfast included. Upper rooms have balcony and hammock.

Cancun Hotel - Ambiance Villas
Good price, nice well kept rooms and grounds, fine pool, large, broad beach. If you are lucky as we were, you might be upgraded to an apartment. It was huge. Or, just reserve one.

Love Casa De Balam in Merida. You can walk downtown from there. It is an old estancia, and it is beautiful and has good food too. This is a smaller boutique hotel.

If you want to stay on the outskirts of Merida, the Hacienda Xcanatun is a wonderful place.
