Camino Real Cancun

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some info on the hotel Camino Real Cancun. Is it a nice hotel? How is the beach? The pool? Service. I'm planning on a vacation to Cancun in April.
thxs

The CR Cancun is a very nice hotel located right in the middle of everything. The beach is beautiful, one of the nicest in Cancun. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the restaurants are excellent. Upgrade to a "club level" room. Last time we stayed there it included a great buffet breakfast and an evening cocktail hour. Also ask about the more Mexico for less package. You might get a free night!
You can book directly with them over the phone. Check out their website, http://www.caminoreal.com/ for more info.

Hi JSHaffer

I stayed at this hotel last year and i have to say it was really a great hotel. It not a luxury hotel and it does need to be updated but if you can afford it upgrade to the tower part and you will have a better stay. You will have a great breakfast in the morning also with the upgrade. The hotel is in the best location if you ask me the beach surrounds the hotel which makes it great and if you upgrade to the tower you get your own private beach which is nice. Have a great trip.

Olleus

Make sure you go to Maria Bonita, a very nice Mexican restaurant at the Camino Real. It is not inexpensive but worth it. Real Mexican food in a relaxed environment. Ask for a tamarind margarita, they make them better than anyone else.

We stayed at the Camino Real about 5 years ago and eventhough we liked it -it was showing its age back then. I agree that the location is perfect and Maria Bonita is a great restaurant.

Camino Real has a wonderful, calm beach. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is surrounded on 3 sides by water, with some ruins right on the property. Have a great trip.

We visit Cancun 3-4 times a year and would never stay anywhere else in the hotel zone. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, need updating, but the beach, friendly staff, service, grounds, etc., are all exceptional. Best location in Cancun. Both La Brisa and Maria Bonita are excellent restaurants. Will be there again in a few days. Have tons on photos on disk. If you're interested in seeing a few, let me know before 3/24, and I'll e-mail them to you. [email protected]

If you get a good price, the Camino Real can be a good place to hang your sombrero.

I stayed there this past Thanksgiving thru about Dec. 2. Our room was in the older, lower building. It was nice, but a bit dated. The tower seemed newer and more upscale. Service was generally good.

If you want to see loads of details, I wrote a long review. It is at:
http://www.epinions.com/content_82701553284

Hope this helps!
Mark
