help! spring break advice

Me and 12 or so friends need to make some spring break plans and soon, before ticket prices go way up. Our spring break is March 24 - April 1.

Ideally we'd want some kind of villa situation where we can hang out at the beach and then have some local nightlife also. Preferably nightlife that is a) not too expensive b) safe and c) has other college-age kids.

We are totally lost. Our price range for flight and board is around $700-1000. We were thinking about Costa Rica, but we really have no preference. Does anyone have any suggestions? Your help is GREATLY appreciated! thanks!!!!

i presume u mean $700-1000 per person for a week.
you dont say where ur coming from??
but from canada & us there are some great deals on flights available.
ur best bet is to fly into liberia airport:

http://costa.rica.typepad.com/liberi...ort_costa_ric/

from there, ur on the beach in 35 mins.
id advise a villa in ocotal, small safe beach and only 5 mins drive to all the bars/restaurants in playa del coco, go to la vida loca on the beach, say hello to ther owner jimbo from oregon, he'll gen u up on local safety and ´look after you'. costaricabeachbar.com
amy at avispas tours and mike at papapagayo vargas in playa hermosa are also good local ´gringos´who will advise u on local tours etc, villas maybe!?

try also modesta at villas casa blanca, she rents out villas in Octal and around, shes american and very nice
contact details on my blog:

u will see crackheads around and its the americas so no shortage of drugs, but u´d be very unlucky to have any problems. DONT walk on the beach at night- bit in front of jimbos bar is ok-dont leave anything in ur car, even if its locked, dont invite locals back to ur villas, hotel.
its more to do with property theft here than personal safety!
jimbo does a great day out on his 65ft yacht costricasailingtours.com to a desterted beach for BBQ lunch back at sunset!
OR, fly into san jose, head to the caribbean, Puerto Veijo is a good base u can explore the beaches south like cahuita, uva, manzillo, cocles.
OR, mal pais is beautiful. funky- a couple of the red hot chilli peppers have a place there- and from there montezuma is a ´new age' stoners locals tourists beach with a beautifull waterfall to swim in
my traveloblog below has more info:

If what you want mostly is a beach & place to party, I wouldn't bother going the distance (expense of plane ticket) to Costa Rica.

Maybe look at packages for Cancun?

If Costa Rica ends up being beyond your budget then Cancun and Cabo San Lucas are two Mexican resorts that get plenty of spring break action.

I would like to think that the Spring Break action you are looking for is the kind you might find in Costa Rica--lots of great activities involving nature--rainforest, beach, waterfalls, kayaking, ziplining, with maybe a little night life thrown in!

Cancun Spring Break action tends to include a different list of activities. . .please choose Costa Rica and have a wonderful time!
