Hello
Hi! I am planning a trip to Peru and am new to this board. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and start asking lots of questions! I am going to do this trip solo! My first solo trip ever. Is it overly ambitious to do a first trip to Latin America as a solo woman? Any opinions would be appreviated! I have never felt uncomfortable traveling anywhere...but I am always with my husband so it has never been an issue! Thank you for any responses! I am excited about planning this trip.

Where else have you been? Latin American can be pretty intimidating. It's not like North America, or Europe. I think there is definately more crime and corruption and general chaos. Not chaos I guess - buts its very different from North America and Western Europe.
There are tons of tourists in Peru though and if you plan properly and be careful I'm sure you will be fine.
Lima is ok - a big city. Cusco and Machu Pichu are both fantastic. The Sacred Valley is awesome and I went into the jungle near the Bolivian border - Puerto Maldonado - and stayed at a lodge along the Madre de Dios river Great time.
Some of my friends continued on to Lake Titicaca and the Nazca lines and had a great time there as well.
