2 questions on Peru.

Before entering the southern jungle, did you get a yellow fever shot in Peru or in the USA before going to Peru. What was the cost in either place. Any side effects from the shot? Next, has anyone rented a car (3 adults traveling) in Arequipa for the journey to see the condors? We would like to rent a vehicle, but don't know if that would be a wise decision. Thanks in advance for your comments. We are going in September.

Wow!! Peru sounds so exotic, but I thought Indiana was part of the US....

Oh-- you don't mean Peru, IN?

If you mean the nation of Perú, favor de fijar su pregunta en la cartelera de Latinoamérica. Please post on the Latin America board. ¡Suerte y buen viaje!

I'll answer even though this is the USA board.
I got a yellow fever shot before going to Peru. For both yellow fever and Hep A, I paid about $100.
You only need the yellow fever shot if you are going to the Amazon jungle.
I personally would not drive in Peru.

You can drive in Peru but the traffic is pretty bad in Lima. I have driven in smaller towns, for example, between Iquitos and Nauta. Take a taxi in Lima. For fun, try a motocarro in Iquitos, a three wheeled vehicle that is a blast. Also, I drove a 4x4 across near-jungle roads in Northern peru. Finally, you might want to try a dune buggy if you are near Paracas.

Regards...

...just saw that you mentioned Arequippa...are you considering Colca Canyon? I have been there, it is remote and fantastic scenery.

I can recommend a place there.

Regards..
