Galapagos - Yacht Alta or Parranda

Hi All -

I found Sangay through another message board and so far he has answered all the emails.

Has anyone been on either the Alta or Parranda? Planning on going January/February.

Martin (of Sangay) thought Parranda may be in better condition.

thanks.

Haven't been on either, but when I was planning my trip, I was trying to decide and finally went with what Martin suggested, and was pleased.

January /february is a great time to be going.
Better listen to what Martin says.

The Yacht Alta is a sailboat..not sure if this is what you want.
Parranda is motor driven

They both host 16 passengers.
Alta is about 20 feet longer.
Both depart on Sundays, so you will have to be at the Galapagos Baltra Island on Sunday.

Both are classified as luxury class.

As you perhaps have read,( from my previous posting), Martin handled everything for me , and I was 100 % pleased.
Are you going 5 days or 7 days.?

Are you going to spent a few days in Quito and area , just seeing the sites.?

Let Martin handle everything, he lives in Quito and does this everyday, so he knows more than we do here in North America

Originally wanted a saling ship. Still up in the air on which boat.

Doing a 7 day trip to Galapagos. Planning on 2-3 days in Quito before and maybe 1 day after cruise.

Then figuring out the flight arrangements from NYC. No non-stops and flight gets in around midnight (what a waste).

Appreciate all the help.

When I was there I noticed a direct from NY to Guayaquil taking off next to our flight. Can't remember what airline...hope that helps.

We would have preferred to leave from Guayaquil if we could have because the altitude really effected us in Quito. We flew through there and it looked nice from the plane.

But even with the altitude I did enjoy seeing Quito. Just not twice....

There is lots to see in Quito and the surrounding area,so you might as well spend some day here, since you are going this far away.

I spent four full days in Quito( and area) with a private tour guide , so I really saw a lot.

I did the four days first, before I went to the Galapagos because , since the Galapagos was the highlite of the whole holiday, I felt that I would just want to come home after the Galapagos, but there is nothing wrong with doing it the other way.

Just plan out what you want to see in Quito and do it.
The Galapagos is all planned for you.
