Thought I would post this trip report because there hasn't been much on this board about FS Punta Mita. We have done a fair amount of travelling in Mexico and the Caribbean and gone to some pretty high-end places but this was our first Four Seasons experience and it won't be our last! FS PM may have spoiled us for anything else. It really was the perfect resort for us. The most spectacular scenery and sunsets I have ever seen, gorgeous grounds with a wonderful tropical/mexican ambience, long stretches of uncrowded beaches, fabulous ocean views, incredible service (in addition to the parade of cool towels, evian sprays, fruit kabobs, sorbet, and water at the beach there is also someone who cleans your sunglasses!)Food was good and I did not think it was super-expensive (some things were, like $15 for Pellegrino), lots of activities offered, the golf course was wonderful (my husband played more than 200 holes of golf during the week -- we were on the unlimited golf package). Lots of comps including a double upgrade to a premium oceanview room, champagne, cake and strawberries in our room upon arrival (it was a special occasion), complimentary lunch and drinks because our upgraded room was not quite ready upon arrival, a wonderful manager's cocktail party with open bar and so much food we cancelled our dinner reservation, thus we really received excellent value for the price we paid. This is getting long, I'll probably write more later about a few quibbles, but feel free to ask questions.

Agreed with eileen 100 percent, Punta Mita is absolutely awesome. Prices change drastically depends on a rainy season - Jan to May is the most expensive, and Jun - Sep the least expensive. Although June and September are still very nice, I would not recommend July or August. Very hot! Check FS website for various packages. Rates on their website for this month show $400 to $720USD per night.

Some more info on rooms and locations. Considering the caliber of the resort, I think the partial oceanview category, which I believe ranges from $290 to $420 a night, is an absolute steal. This is what we booked and we were lucky to get upgraded. However, if an oceanview is essential for you, do not book this category, because in touring the resort, it appears that "partial" refers to perhaps a sliver of blue ocean spied from the balcony. These rooms are on the first floor and there is lots of foliage and other buildings blocking the views. We were given a premium ocean view (3rd floor, end unit, fabulous view) and the price of that room is about $250 more per night than the partial ocean view. The views definitely enhanced our experience and I love an ocean view, but for the amount of time we spend in our room, would never have paid that much more for it. The best deals are the packages which include unlimited golf, breakfast, etc. Breakfast buffet, which was incredible, was about $30 pp plus 30% (15% tax, 15% service charge). We only ate two meals a day because they serve breakfast until 11 a.m. which was great. So we had brunch, then dinner. All in all, the cost was less than we expected which contributed to our positive review, of course.

Did you get to see the work out room? How was the food at FS? I like good seafood & my husband is a beef person. Are there any other restaurants to eat at beside FS restaurants? Is the beach right on the FS property? Are there beach chairs on the beach? Can you swim in the beach water? Thank you for your help.

Yes, I saw the work-out room which is part of a very beautiful separate spa/gym building. The gym was very nice with state of the art precors, etc. with TV's built into each one. They had quite a few machines, free weights, very substantial for the size of the resort. The food was very good. We are seafood people so we ate nothing but that, but they did have other things on the menu like steak, chicken, etc. I thought the food was very good, not fabulous, but definitely good and I did not think it was that expensive. They had a nice deal for 560 pesos -- you could choose any appetizer, entree and dessert. That's about $52 dollars, that's reasonable compared to Philadelphia prices. The two beaches are right on the property and they have beach chairs, tables, palapas, everything you could want. The water is swimmable but the bottom is rocky. There is the little town of Punta Mita outside the gate of the resort and there are several very casual restaurants right on the beach. We ate at El Dorado it was great and very reasonable. If you ask the golf shuttle to take you to the employees entrance, the town is only a block away from there. Hope this helps, it's a great place.
