Flamingo Cancun - anyone stayed there?
Hi! My father has found a cheap charter deal from Houston staying at the Flamingo Cancun. We are traveling with a 2 year old and wonder if anyone can give us any input on the property.

I believe norway is referring to the Flamingo Cancun not the Flamingo in Xcaret. The Flamingo Cancun is a moderate sized beachfront hotel very near a mall and many restaurants in the heart of the hotel strip. Not luxury but a nice , well maintained hotel.

Yes - I am referring to the Flamingo Cancun not Flamingo in Xcaret.
Robert - my father is looking at places in the non luxury (3 star range) due to pricing. Have you been in the Occidental Carribbean Village CUN, the Park Royal Piramides Cancun, Club El Mandarin or Royal Solaris Caribe Hotel & Marina? If you happen to have a preference or any info on these -- please send them my way. We are booking this week.
Thanks!

While haven't stayed at the properties mentioned by Norway, I am familiar with several from visits. All are good value first class hotels.
The Park Royal Piramides is probably the most centrally located if you want to be close to the Cancun center and shopping. The Royal Solaris is further out and closer to the airport but on a beautiful beach. Club El Mandarin is south of the Cancun airport and actually closer to Playa del Carmen. A nice setting with accomodations scattered among separate buildings on nice landscaped grounds rather than in a hotel setting like the others.
Hope this helps!

I live in Norway but my father and wife live an hour from Houston (5-6 hour drive to Dallas).
We were all currently planning on flying out of Houston and my husband, 2 year old and I will return to Norway from Mexico.
I doubt my father (who needs flight, accomodation package) would drive to Dallas, however we need only accomodations.
