Fishing & such

Hello everyone!

I have posted before & thanks to Fodor's & everyone on board picked Premier Fiesta in Playa Hermosa for our 30-year wedding anniversary (& also hubbie's 50th)>

First on Jeff's list is deep sea fishing. Any recommendations for a provider in and around Playa Hermosa? Willing to go with a local as opposed to someone the hotel recommends.

Next on our list is the Arenal volcano - how far from Playa Hermosa? We are planning to rent a jeep or some other kind of 4WD vehicle.

Is white water rafting and/or zipping possible from Playa Hermosa? Aerial tram possible?

Thanks for your help all. We are leaving on August 12 for 8 nights so any input about anything we haven't thought of would love to hear about.

Just 2 JJS

Tranquilamar - Bob - http://www.tranquilamar.com/
He is who we use (locals) when we want to go deep sea fishing.
Arenal is a 4 hr drive from Playa Hermosa. I just did white water kayaking yesterday at the Colorado River. 2 person kayaks....what a rush. 1/2 hr from Playa Hermosa. There is white water rafting in Arenal also.
For zip line canopy Tours - Borinquen or Witches Rock canopy (Hermosa area)
Also try Palo Verde River tour - best to see wild life

there's a brand new luxury sportfishing boat called Catch Em , there link is here:

you can fish out of a locally owned smaller boat for a lot less cash. the best is the Don Manuel based in Playa Hermosa, there website is here:

Thanks for the help. We will definitely check out the locals.

What is the situation with bugs? My hubbie is a red head and all types of bugs love the way he tastes. Any suggestions on what works best as far as insect repellant?

Hello, Papagayo. . .sorry to have missed you at Playa Hermosa (Villas del Sueno). We had a great time there.
Your weekend trip sounds exciting!

fourjjs, contratulations on your anniversary and the big 50 for your husband! You are sure to have a wonderful and memorable celebration.

A few years ago, I contacted Jerry Ruhlow.

[email protected]

He is a Costa Rica fishing expert and writes articles for the Tico Times about fishing all over the country. He, too, would be a good person to contact and might have some useful information for you.
