Fees for Amex Check cashing?
Hello All:
Does anyone know what percent different banks in San Jose Costa Rica charge to cash America Express US$ checks into either Colones or US$?
Hope I got my question in the right slot this time.
Thanks,
Woodie

In addition to the fees, you will have to deal with the bank hours and sometimes a very long wait. ATM's and/or credit cards are widely used & available.
Btw - there is no right or wrong slot - it's just that ALL of the messages appear on the left hand side of the forum, so regardless of whether you select a country when posting your question, it's not always possible to determine which country you are referring to unless you say so in your post title (most helpful) or at least in your post itself.

If you are going to exchange traveler's checks, exchange them at branches of BAC San Jose. They are far more efficient than any of the state banks (Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica, Banco Popular).
