Favorite vacation spot in Mexico?

Where is your favorite vacation spot in Mexico, for a family with a 1 yr old? Would be for 10 days - January.

You might like Sayulita. It's a 40 minute trip north from the Puerto Vallarta airport. It's getting more crowded as it gains in popularity, but is a good family place with a swimable ocean.

You may want to consider Isla Mujeres (a short ferry ride from Cancun) North Beach is very calm and the island is very laid back. We are heading there for spring break with our 3 small kids this year.

I agree with Suze. With a one year old the larger more developed area such as PV make sense.

after having traveled to all the touristy places in Mexico, the Riviera Maya is still my favorite. Playa del Carmen is fantastic.

It's really a tough question, and I don't travel with a family or children myself.

Is there anything more you can tell us about what YOU would seek in a favorite vacation destination? Do you want rustic, countryside, city, luxury, resort, local hotel, formal tourist activities... will you rent a car or prefer public tranportation????

I agree with Suze but unless I know more details like where are you flying from I can't say. P.V. is very child friendly. If you live on the East Coast of the U.S. I would say go to Playa Del Carmen it is much easier to get there by plane. P.V. takes about 5 and a half hrs from Phila. If you need any help with Restaurants I would be glad to give you some recommendations

Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Cancun on the east coast.

Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan on the west coast.

Cabo San Lucas along San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos and La Paz on the Baja peninsula.

I agree with the Mayan Riviera. My sister and I stayed in May and will go back with the kids. First time at an All Inclusive and it was great! Very easy with children since everything is right there. Variety of food, beach, pool and entertainment. Just be sure to get up early for a covered lounge on the beach or pool. The sun is intense. We stayed at the Iberostar Beach and loved it. Plenty of kids and an incredible beach. Have fun!
