driver MexicoCity/San Miquel

We will be needing transportation from Mexico City airport to San Miguel de Allende in mid March. Our B&B quotes $200 one way for a driver. We were hoping to be able to get there for less, but would still prefer car rather than bus. We are told it takes 3 1/2 hours. Any help appreciated.

In case you take this route, I think it was about $80 for a taxi from Leon to SMdA 2 years ago (last time we did it) ... can't remember how long it took but far less than the 3.5 hrs from Mexico City, maybe 90 minutes or a bit more ... we broke our trip up with stays in Guanajuato both coming and going.

For sure the small Leon airport will be less hectic than the City. Continental has daily flights from Houston.

also if u rent a car, it would be cheaper, and u will be safer, driving on the city is a piece of cake, and easy to find ur way once u exit the city
