Doubletree Cariari

Considering the Doubletree Cariari, which was recently purchased by Hilton beginning of 2008. I searched the forum, and I am not finding many comments. The location is close to the airport (5 minutes)for our last night stay. They have an Avis car rental on the propery, so we can return our car the day before our flight, and take the complimentary shuttle. All sounds good, but I am not finding many comments since Hilton purchased this property.

Any feedback?

I stayed in May & really liked it. The rooms were large, clean & the beds were very comfortable. Nice pool, breakfast was good & great location close to the airport. I think it's a good convenient choice for a last night. I've booked them again for my last night next May.

I am sure it will be just fine. The Cariari is one of the original large modern hotels in San Jose. Before the tourism boom created more eclectic choices, this was the hotel of choice for visiting dignitaries and movie stars. They also built the very first golf course in the country, many years ago.

I have stayed there on several occasions during the annual travel mart. It is really just a nice large hotel, on par with a Sheraton or Marriott here in the States. Now that it is a Hilton property (first time I have heard of this), I am sure it will be even better.

If you are seeking this kind of hotel, then you will be very happy here.

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer any more advice.

Warm Regards,

Around the airport chose to book

from $100 on expedia.com also

www.xandari.com

both outstanding good local flavor.

Stayed there this oast June - found it great for the location - rooms nice, beds very comfy, several choices for meals, small stores within walking distance. Perfect for a last night stay.

As for dated, they've updated most of the rooms.

Stayed there a few years ago and really enjoyed. They used to have a very nice free breakfast buffet. Maybe the tradition carried over? The grounds are also quite nice considering where it's located and they have a guard watching who comes and goes. If I remember correctly, it isn't too far from Zoo Ave. if you happen to have an extra or two. You might want to figure more like 10 minutes from the airport, but still a very easy commute.
