Day trips from Antigua.

I'm staying in Antigua, GUA january 12 thru January 17. Is a day trip to Chichicastenango doable from Antigua?
How about day trip to Lake Atitlan from Antigua? I appreciate your advice.

This is very doable from Antigua. There are tours that combine both destinations, if that is your desire. You will have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for response. Do you know how long does it take to get to Chchi or Lake Atitlan one way?

Thanks

I did this trip some years ago and it was part of a tour. The bus stopped for breakfast, since it was an early start. I am thinking it was about 3 hours to Chichi with the stop (but I may be inadvertently lying).
The usual recommendation is that you go to Chichi on a market day.

Graziella5b,
Thanks for your response. Did you have enough time to spend at the market in Chichi? I heard it does not go beyond a.m. hours. If it is, then I would only have a couple of hours for the market which may not be enough.
Also, did any one venture to Lake Atitlan and back from Antigua in one day?
Thanks.

Antigua to Atitlan is about 2-1/2 to 3 hours so you could do it... Although overnighting there would be best to really appreciate the area.
I had some business appointments so I did Antigua - Panajachel - Xela - Panajachel in a day - definitely not recommended!!!!
Cheers
Andrew

Hi Oleg, plenty of time in the market. Had lunch in a nice old colonial hotel, then came back to Antigua.
