CR - Tourist Bus Accident and Earthquake

Just in case someone missed this story.

Chills ran over me when I signed on just now to the following story. Thoughts and Prayers go out to those involved and to all of you that may have family and friends involved. Hopefully the news will come that the injuries are not serious.

Donna

A special report from A.M. Costa Rica

Dear A.M. Costa Rica readers,

We have updated our front page to report that a bus loaded with North American tourists has rolled over between San Ramón and La Fortuna. We have no names yet.

Some 42 persons were hurt, and six were airlifed to hospitals in San José.

Check out our story:

http://www.amcostarica.com

Also, we are working on a story about a 5.1 earthquake north of Quepos that took place this morning. There have been no reports of serious damage. The shock was felt in the Central Valley.

Regards,

Jay Brodell

Good post Donna! I wasn't aware of the bus accident until I read the AM Costa Rica special. Will post asap as I hear more info. (All okay here w/ the 5.1 as far as I've heard.) Lisa in M. Antonio

Thanks, Donna, for posting of the accident. Did you read about the NatureAir crash landing near Tamarindo last week? Or perhaps it was the week before. . . .such a blessing no one was seriously injured. A miracle. How awful to be in an accident on vacation. It has always seemed to me that those buses go so darned fast on those narrow roads. So many times, I've felt as if there were only an inch or two between us and a bus.

Hi to you Lisa! Prospero Ano Nuevo!

This is indeed sad , and quite scary . Thoughts and prayers to all involved . Very unfortunate to happen on ones vacation . (or anywhere for that matter ) Nature Air has had a great safety record to date , and this is the first I have heard of a tourist bus accident . Although from what I have read in the past , road accidents are the number one cause of fatality for younger people in Costa Rica . Thanx for posting .

Lisa - good to hear all is well with you. Let us know if you learn anymore.

Jill - yes, I did read of the Nature Air accident, 2 tourist hospitalized, as I recall - but have read nothing else.

Yes, Faithie, Nature Air has always had a high safety record, it is unfortunate, but as we know things can and do happen.

Hopefully there will be good news tomorrow.
