Lucky to be Alive Department

I am back from my one-month trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I had a great time and I will post details about the trip in a separate post.

I did however have a serious auto accident during the trip. I was driving in a rental car near Boca Tapada, which is near the Nicaraguan border. The roads there are unpaved and in terrible condition.

While crossing over a bridge, the car skidded that caused the car to flip over the edge and fall about 25 feet into the river. We are lucky to be alive.

We were in the middle of nowhere and it took 2 hours to get to a hospital.

Be careful when driving in Costa Rica. Those roads are nasty.

Hi

Welcome back home.

Thank God you are back in one piece.

When I went to Nicaragua several months back ,I stayed mainly on the paved roads.

I am sure that is an adventure you do not want to repeat.

Nice to see you posting again, let us know all about your trip ,when you get settled down ,okay

Dariow, yes, thank God you are still here with us!

I read so much about malaria, dengue fever, armed bandits, and other dangers. But when we were in Costa Rica just a few days ago, we saw no sign of bandits, and we didn't get sick. But we did feel that the most dangerous thing you will probably do in Costa Rica is just to drive or ride in a car!

So sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident.

dariow,
so sorry to hear about your accident but glad to hear you are doing okay. I am sure it can be quite stressful being in a foreign country and having that happen as well as dealing with your injuries.

we are going to guatemala next winter and taking the bus from there to cr. glad we won't be driving on those horrible roads.

Thank you for sharing with us. I am so glad you are "alive" after such a horrible experience.

Last year, I corresponded with someone who wrote to me after having a horrible accident. They were returning to Costa Rica to see all of the things they missed.

I hope you will come again, get past the horrible experience and take back only wonderful memories next time.

Sounds like you have more life to live and more to see and do!
