CR departure/exit tax
Can anyone confirm if there is a departure/exit tax leaving CR coming back to the US? My travel agent said no, but I thought I read some old posts about using cash vs credit cards for a departure tax.
Makes me wonder about my travel agent....
Please advise. Thanks.

There is a $26.00 per person exit tax. You can pay it with a credit card, but it is charged as a cash advance. Most credit card companies charge an additional fee or more interest for this.
It is easiest to just pay cash. Colons or dollars, or a combination of the two. This is a good way to get rid of those excess colons too.

A tip - if the stand is open, pay the tax before you go through immigration upon arriving in CR. This will save you time upon departure. They'll give you a receipt, and you just have to present it when leaving. Saves standing in a line (as the booth by immigration usually has no line).
Have fun!
