Cozumel's Non-Ship Days

Would anyone know what days there are no (or fewer) cruise ships in Cozumel?

Just got back from PDC/Cozumel a week ago. The worst days for cruise ships in both places are Tuesdays and Wednesdays (up to two in PDC, up to 4 in Cozumel. None on Sunday (but because of this half the stores in San Miguel de Cozumel are closed), Few or none on Mon, Thus, Fri, or Sat.

Thanks for your answer on the cruise ships.
Did you stay at the Presidente hotel in Cozumel ? Seems to get the highest rating.

What hotel would you recommend in PDC? We like to be near the water but close to shopping, too.

Do 4 nights in Cozumel and 3 in PDC sound like a good arrangement? (Have a cat we can't bear to be away from longer.)

We usually try to go south for 2 weeks in Febuary or March (and we too hate leaving our cats!), but one year we just had a week. We booked 4 nights in Cozumel (during carnival) and 3 in Playa del Carmen. We had been to both areas before a few times. That worked out well for us - the ferry trip is only 45 minutes or so.

I never spend much on hotels now, although many years ago, I stayed at the Presidente. It's a long way from town. I usually like to be close to town, or stay in town, but then again, I don't like to spend a lot of money. I'm sure others will have some good suggestions. I do hear good things about the Presidente.

Susan:

Thanks for your reply.
We normally like to be "in town", too so we don't need a taxi all the time. What in-town hotels would you recommend in San Miguel? I didn't notice any hotels on the main strip there; maybe they are a block or two from the water?

Several years ago we rented a friend's timeshare at Plaza Las Glorias. Location was great - more or less in town, so we could walk everywhere. Last time we stayed at a place called Palapas Amaranto which is right in town. I really enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again. You can do a search on the internet and pull up their site. The owners also have a B&B. It was great to have some kitchen facilities (microwave, bar fridge, etc.). The design of the place was really cool and rates were very good.
