Costa Rica rafting in July
My fiance and I are planning on doing a two-day rafting trip on the Pacuare River in late July. From reading others' posts, though, it sounds like sometimes the water levels can get too high in July, forcing people to switch from the Pacuare to the Sarapiqui River.
My questions:
1) How often does this happen?
2) Should we wait to book our rafting trip when we actually arrive in Costa Rica since this is a possibility? Or is it better to book it now to reserve our spot regardless?
Thanks!

Just did the Pacuare three days ago - our guide told us the river is closed only a few days a year due to high water so I think your chances are slim that you'll miss out. We booked with Rio Tropicales before we left and had no problems. Something interesting, however - our voucher had a disclaimer that said a "partial refund" may be offered for trips that are canceled due to reasons beyond their control. We were a little confused by that (how much refund?) so you may want to ask for details.
