I'm trying to hone in on exactly what you're looking for in a destination, neoPatrick. Is this correct, so far?

Quality dining the most important priority
Peace and relaxation over adventure
No long travel
Nature not a priority
Should be romantic
No insects or critters in the rooms
Beach not a priority

What DO you envision as the perfect spot for your second anniversary?

Well, Cattail, I think all travel involves compromise. But I'd say your list is pretty good. By the way "beach not a priority". Is not the same thing as waterfront or oceanfront. And you did leave out "beautiful warm weather in February".

But yes thar resort in Montego Bay does seem to hit all those things.

NeoPatrick, I have a friend who is doing much as you're doing. She and her husband have never been to a waterfront resort, so that is what she has booked. Sometimes it's nice to not have to worry about particulars. Have fun!

Great.

Yea, about that beach thing. . . Sitting on a shaded balcony sipping a margarita while looking out over the ocean and palm trees is rated WAY HIGHER than laying on a towel or chaise ON the beach! On the other hand, being able to walk a couple miles along the beach in the morning is pretty fantastic, but it doesn't need to be wide or even white sand to love doing that.

Neopatrick, i know you from the Paris forums. We just got back from a week in CR and LOVED it. We stayed the first 2 nights at La Carolina lodge and next 5 at an all inclusive villa, villa vista de pro, in ocotal. amazing lodging, chef cooks with passion and food is delicious. both spots are romantic and no more than 2 hours away.just an idea
